Aleks Susak's journey into the world of arts, fashion, and entertainment began in her childhood, marked by enchanting experiences attending local children's theatre shows with her grandfather. Immersed in the magical world of performances like "Little Red Riding Hood" and "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," Aleks was captivated by the vibrant costumes and, with a special privilege, frequently went behind the scenes, learning the intricate process of bringing a theatre production to life.

As a teenager, her passion for fashion blossomed, sparked by shows like CBC's The Fashion File and Fashion Television. This fascination wasn't limited to glamour alone; Aleks developed a genuine interest in the collections emerging from fashion capitals worldwide. Despite being scouted for the modeling industry at the age of 16 and gaining valuable experience in front of and behind the camera, Aleks remained committed to her academic pursuits, studying political science and international relations at the University of Toronto. 

Despite a family background in law and cosmetics, Aleks's creative spirit persisted, leading her to experiment with a small collection of hand-painted silks, leathers, and denim in 2014. With guidance from her creatively inclined mother, the collection received rave reviews in a show that marked the inception of her label, Balessa.

Since then, Balessa has evolved organically, drawing inspiration from Aleks's theatrical and artistic influences. The brand, a fusion of creativity and craftsmanship, has expanded to include a core collection of silks, seasonal leathers, denim, and ready-to-wear pieces. The continued growth reflects the loyalty of clients who share in Balessa's artistic vision, and Aleks remains dedicated to celebrating them with an organic and thoughtful approach. Balessa, a play on 'bellezza' in Italian, meaning beauty, stands as a testament to Aleks Susak's journey from a childhood enamored by theatre to a flourishing presence in the world of high fashion.
